Seven major terrestrial rivers: The Danube, the Nile, the Amazon, the Mississippi, the Niger, the Yangtze and the Ganges.
I travelled for ten months following the flow of these seven major rivers around the world and dedicated about two years to the completion of my project «The River Of Life» – a video installation comissioned by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens – presented during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. During my travells I photographed, recorded sounds, and took notes in my diary. This led to the photographic, sound and text based installation «See Through», which took place in Athens, in April 2005. A Chance Encounter? is a sequence of 4 photo’s which were a part of the show.
My desire was to share images, thoughts and experiences of this important adventure in my own life. It was an experience that enriched and deepened my awareness of the world that surrounds me and of my own position within it.
